WFH with kids

[2020]

In collaboration with SOUR, HeyMama and Openbox, I supported the ethnographic research and co-design processes of developing a toolkit to support moms managing working from home and homeschooling at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. We used WhatsApp to run a week-long diary study, where moms and kids participated collaboratively as equals to share stories of their struggles, hacks, and wish lists. Our insights focused on the need to create more time and space for emotional connection so that daily logistics could run with less friction and more fun. Moving into the design phase, we tested digital prototypes of activities and simple paper-based design interventions to improve communication and reset power dynamics towards harmony and collaboration.
