Turning screen time into maker time

[2015-2017]

How do we empower kids to understand and invent their own technology? littleBits is a modular electronics platform for kids to create their own hardware at home and at school. I led the qualitative research process to inspire and validate the best ways of designing, packaging and communicating product values. My favorite part was spending times in kids’ homes to understand their play patterns and their relationships to their existing toys. I also spent time in big-box stores understanding how parents make purchasing decisions, as well as designing play testing and out-of-box tests in controlled environments. My work supported multiple internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, product design, operations, product management, PR, and retail partners.
